Meet Steve

Steve loves Sedona

Steve Hoberman is the author of sixteen technical books, but Sedona Detour marks a different kind of journey. A longtime writer, publisher, and observer of how people organize their lives, Steve drew on his own interests in travel, photography, collecting, and the unexpected turns that lead people somewhere new. He lives in Sedona, Arizona, where red rock, changing light, and vortexes are part of daily life. He is also an avid card collector, a pursuit that has taught him that the stories attached to objects often matter as much as the objects themselves. His favorite movie is Joe Versus the Volcano, which may explain his affection for characters who step away from carefully managed lives and toward something uncertain, unfamiliar, and unplanned. Sedona Detour is his first novel.

The Setting

Inspired by Sedona

Sedona’s red-rock scenery and open horizons help shape the spirit of Sedona Detour. It is a setting made for reflection, fresh perspective, and the kind of detour that can become the beginning of something new.
